Five Minute Mom Makeup (On A Budget)

I was one of those people, before I had kids, who LOVED to do my makeup. I mean all out, full face, winged eyeliner, contoured face kind of makeup. I really enjoyed it and felt like it was artistic. I have always been creative and loved to design new looks. I even used to have a beauty Instagram account, and attempted my hand at YouTube makeup tutorials.

However, I had a baby and quickly realized that makeup was not my passion anymore. I know plenty of moms who have still managed to keep up their fabulous faces after having kids. And props to them! I probably could too if I really felt the desire. But, I don’t enjoy taking the time to put that much work into my face. I especially don’t like how long it takes every night to wash all of that off either. Makeup remover, eye makeup remover, the scrubbing. It leaves my face feeling so dead, and seriously takes me forever.

Now, that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy looking nice and put together. Since having my second baby I have really started to make an effort to put my face on a majority of the time. I feel neater, less sloppy, and like myself if I have a little bit of makeup on. It makes me feel just slightly more polished. So, I like to take about 5 minutes after I shower to get beautified, and go on with my day!

Here are all the products I use, and how I use them to get my regular, everyday mommy makeup look.

This concealer has been a major favorite of mine. It is super light weight, brights up my under eyes, and is easily blended. I apply it pretty heavy handed and use my beauty blender to blend it out through out my face. Any red areas will get a little bit of this as well. Besides blush and bronzer, this is all I put on my face.

Am I the only one who feels like a totally different person after they do their eyebrows? I swear, filling in my eyebrows makes me look human again. I have pretty dark hairs in my eyebrows but they are a little sparse. So I use this pencil to fill them in with a gentle hand, and blend out slightly.

This is all I put on my eyes when I’m in a hurry. But bonus is, whenever you do decide to put more eyeshadow on, this is an AMAZING primer. It seriously will last all day without creasing at all. And for the price, it’s totally worth it. But, most of the time I just use it to add a little bit of color to my eyes with a tad bit of shimmer. I blend it with my finger from the inner corner of my eyelid to the middle. A little goes a long way with this one. So beware!

I just started using this new mascara. I recently went to stock up on my old one and could not find it anywhere. But, I must say I am pretty impressed with this one! it makes my lashes super thick and dark. I love the double ended mascaras. It also is sooooooo easy to wash off at night. No heavy eye makeup remover needed. Just warm, soapy water and it rinses right off. Perfect for when I’m so exhausted and want to hurry and get into bed.

Now that the eyes are done, I move onto putting some color in my face. I am very pale skinned but I like to bronze up my cheeks, especially in the winter time when I haven’t seen the sun in months. (Michigander Problems) I have been using this cool bronzer for years now and really love how it works with my skin tone. I blend all three bronze shades together and work it into the hollows of my cheek bones. I don’t go too crazy like contouring. But, I do sweep it around the whole outside of my face. Just to add a little dimension.

These are by far the best face brushes on a budget that I have used. The bristles are so soft and thick. The eyeshadow brushes that come in the set are also my favorite. I have used them so much that the logos have literally begun to wear off of them.

This blush is pretty much all I use anymore. A little goes a long way with this as well. I just swirl it around the apples of my cheeks. I love that it has a little bit of shimmer in it as well, so it draws light to your cheek bones. I feel like it adds a little bit of the same effect as highlighter.

I usually use a nude lipstick or none at all. But this one added a little bit more color to my face since I’ve been feeling so blah this winter. I love how smooth it is, leaving my lips feeling moisturized. Definitely something we need this time of year. I always apply my lipstick with a gentle hand. Especially since I’m always kissing babies all day. 😉

Now, it depends on the day, because I only wash my hair a few days a week, but on the days that I don’t, I use this. This dry shampoo is super affordable and adds body and freshness to my hair. I feel like my hair looks better using this in it, than if I were to just wash it and blow-dry it. Not to mention it smells amazing. And who doesn’t want awesome smelling hair?

With Love,Britt

  1. The longest time, I stopped doing makeup after I had my daughter, because I felt like I had no time. This is an awesome post. I love the elf products and have started doing 5 to 10 makeup looks with mostly elf products.

  2. Oh I hear you! But yes I still like to do a ‘toned-down’ version each day just so I actually feel presentable! I am going to check out the Maybelline eraser as I need to buy a new concealer and my current one isn’t doing the job, thanks!

  3. First off, you look absolutely beautiful with and without makeup! I just had a son
(he will be 2 months tomorrow) and I absolutely feel where you are coming from! Splashing on a little makeup can just make you feel like you at least TRIED to take care of yourself lol! ♥
